Former world titlist Shawn Porter caused a stir when he expressed doubts about the upcoming fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk. Speaking on the Deep Waters podcast, Porter argued that the fight, scheduled for February 17th, might not actually take place.

"Tyson Fury is known for being a showman," Porter said. "He likes things to be his way or no way." According to Porter, the Usyk fight may not align with Fury's desires. "Personally, I don't think this is the kind of energy Fury wants to exert anymore in the boxing ring. That's why he went after Francis Ngannou...he's looking for fights that will give him money, recognition, and nights where he doesn't have to work hard."

During a recent discussion, former boxing champion Chris Algieri and former welterweight champion Shawn Porter shared their thoughts on Tyson Fury's future in the sport. Algieri suggested that if Fury was not confident in his ability to defeat current heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, he should consider joining the WWE. Porter agreed with Algieri's assessment, stating that while there may be other opportunities for Fury outside of boxing, he did not see Fury being able to win against Usyk.

Porter did, however, express his belief that Fury would emerge victorious if he were to face Usyk in the ring. He even went as far as to predict that this potential fight would be Fury's last, and that he would retire afterwards.

Algieri expressed surprise at the close proximity of the rumored February 17 fight date, suggesting that Fury's desire to control his own destiny could potentially delay the bout. Despite this, both Algieri and Porter agreed that the fight between Fury and Usyk would eventually take place.

Malignaggi, on the other hand, believed Fury-Usyk is going to go down as planned. “This fight’s going to happen February 17th,” said Malignaggi. “That’s it. This fight’s going to happen. Fury has been quiet because Fury goes into his spaced out zone when he goes into full focus mode and that’s when you know he’s actually preparing very, very well.”
