Boxing Clash in Las Vegas
Two of the most avoided practitioners in the entire sport of boxing clashed in the ring in Las Vegas Saturday night. Indeed, the battle was the main event of Showtime Boxing’s final pay per view card. Both David Benavidez and Demetrius Andrade were former world titlists with exceedingly impressive records and an ability to make possible high end opponents turn the other way. The fact that they decided to fight each other made for an interesting scenario, as the power punching Benavidez was pitting his crushing shots against the slick, fluid skill set of Andrade.
In a thrilling match, David Benavidez emerged victorious against Demetrius Andrade. The undefeated Andrade started strong, landing jabs and holding his opponent when under attack. However, Benavidez fought back with flurries in the second round, leaving Andrade struggling to figure him out. Despite Andrade's efforts to come alive and land punches in the third and fourth rounds, Benavidez's power shots took a toll.
The fifth round saw Benavidez thudding away at Andrade, who showed his warrior spirit by trading blows ferociously. Although Andrade managed to catch Benavidez, it was not enough to stop his relentless attack. Concerns for Andrade's safety arose, leading his corner to agree with the referee's decision to stop the fight.
After the match, Benavidez expressed his desire to face divisional undisputed champion Canelo Alvarez. When asked about his turnaround, Benavidez attributed his success to hard work and dedication. Andrade graciously acknowledged Benavidez's victory, congratulating him and his family.
Andrade vowed to come back stronger in future fights.
