Teofimo Lopez and Keyshawn Davis Set to Fight in Las Vegas

On February 8th in Las Vegas, WBO junior welterweight titlist Teofimo Lopez will be defending his belt against Jamaine Ortiz. This highly anticipated fight will take place at the Michelob ULTRA Arena and will be broadcasted on ESPN. In addition, rising lightweight Keyshawn Davis will also be featured on the card, facing off against Jose Pedraza in a scheduled 10 rounder.

Bob Arum, the head of Top Rank, expressed his excitement for the upcoming fights. He stated, "Teofimo Lopez is among the best fighters in the world and always wants to fight the best available opponent. Jamaine Ortiz is a supreme talent who fits the bill. I believe Keyshawn Davis is a future world champion, but you can never count out a skilled two-weight world champion like Jose Pedraza. What a fantastic doubleheader for the fans watching on ESPN and at Michelob ULTRA Arena."

Lopez, who was last seen defeating Josh Taylor last spring, will be defending his title for the first time. "February 8 at Mandalay Bay, 'The Takeover' will captivate inside that boxing ring as only I can!," Lopez declares. "To the boxing enthusiasts worldwide, I aim not only to dominate and dismantle Jamaine Ortiz, but to do it in such a way that my division will be put on notice." The 19-1 Lopez is clearly seeking to regain the spotlight after having only five fights since his monumental victory over Vasyl Lomachenko in 2020.

"Jamaine is a tough opponent," Lopez admits. "I know this because I faced him back in the amateur days in 2015 for the National Golden Gloves Championship. I will show the world that champions do not back down when confronted with challenges. They rise and shine the brightest when the stakes are highest. This one is for all my supporters on the Takeover Express! Let's once again demonstrate what real boxing looks like to the world." The 7-1-1 Ortiz, of course, is equally determined to prove himself in the scheduled 12-round fight. "This is the most significant fight of my career," he states. "It's my first world title bout. I believe this fight will bring out the very best in me, and I am excited to return home as the new champion!"

Davis and Pedraza are both eager to make an impression on the co-main event happening on February 8th. Davis expresses his utmost respect for Jose Pedraza and acknowledges his accomplishments in the professional boxing world. He believes that this fight is the necessary step he needs to take in order to advance to the next level, and he anticipates that Pedraza will bring his best performance.

On the other hand, former world titlist Pedraza is determined to reclaim his previous boxing glory. He confidently states that Keyshawn Davis will soon understand what it feels like to face a two-division world champion.
