Michigan Man Discovers $2 Million Lottery Win After Four Months
A man from Isabella County, Michigan had been driving around with a winning scratch off lottery ticket worth $2 million without realizing it, according to officials from the Michigan Lottery.
The 29-year-old winner, who chose to remain anonymous, purchased the ticket from the E-Z Mart in Shepherd about four months ago. After scratching the ticket and not seeing any winnings, he placed it in his center console along with other non-winning tickets.
It wasn't until recently when the man took a few tickets to the store that he decided to scan the Money ticket. The message prompted him to file a claim at the Lottery office. Upon closer inspection, he discovered that he had matched number 13 and revealed the '$2 MIL' symbol underneath.
"I was speechless," the lucky winner said. "It is a miracle this ticket didn't end up in the trash!"
According to officials from the Michigan Lottery, a lucky player has chosen to receive his prize of approximately $1.3 million as a one-time payment. The 29-year-old winner plans to invest the money rather than making any extravagant purchases. He stated that he wants to use the winnings as a financial cushion for his family. Since the launch of the Money scratch off game in March, players have collectively won over $47 million in prizes.
