Plane Crash in Plano Shopping Center Parking Lot
The pilot of a single-engine plane tragically lost their life following a crash in a Plano shopping center parking lot on Tuesday evening.
Emergency responders from Plano Fire-Rescue were alerted to the crash just before 6 p.m. The incident occurred in front of Mama's Daughters' Diner, which is located in Prestonwood Park off West Park Boulevard.
Fortunately, the plane did not collide with any structures or land on anything. However, the resulting fire did impact an unoccupied parked car.
At this time, no further details are available. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will be conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
The FAA has issued the following statement to CBS News Texas:
"A single-engine Mooney M20 crashed north of Air Park-Dallas Airport in Texas, around 6 p.m. local time on Tuesday, Nov. 21. Only the pilot was on board. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will investigate. The NTSB will be in charge of the investigation and will provide any updates."
