Sam Altman, a prominent figure in the field of artificial intelligence, has been ousted as CEO of OpenAI. The company made the announcement on Friday, stating that its board no longer has faith in Altman's leadership.
Mira Murati, the Chief Technology Officer, will step in as the interim CEO.
"Altman's departure comes after a thorough review process by the board, which determined that he was not consistently transparent in his communications, impeding the board's ability to fulfill its responsibilities. As a result, the board no longer believes he can effectively lead OpenAI," the company explained in a statement.
