Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson expressed his intense fear regarding his upcoming bout against social media sensation turned boxer Jake Paul.
"Iron Mike" disclosed to Fox News Channel's Sean Hannity that he believes in facing his fears head-on. He stated, "Anything I'm afraid of, I confront it. And that's my personality. Like right now, I'm scared to death. But as the fight gets closer, the less nervous I become because it's reality. And in reality, I'm invincible."
Tyson emphasized his daily training routine and dismissed the notion that Paul, despite being much younger, is quicker than him. The 57-year-old fighter acknowledged Paul's evolution from a YouTube influencer to a serious opponent.
"That's not the guy I'm going to be fighting," Tyson told Hannity. "This guy is going to come and try to hurt me, which I'm accustomed to. And he's going to be greatly mistaken."
In a surprising turn of events, Netflix revealed in March that Tyson would face Paul live on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Texas, the iconic venue that houses the Dallas Cowboys and accommodates around 80,000 spectators.
Tyson and Paul to Face Off in Boxing Match
Former undisputed world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson is set to return to the ring to face off against professional boxer Jake Paul. Tyson, who last fought in a 2020 exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr., retired in 2005 with 50 wins, 44 by knockout.
On the other hand, Jake Paul, who turned pro four years ago, has won nine out of his last 10 fights with six knockouts. His only loss came against Tommy Fury, the WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury's half-brother.
