Shocking Revelation: Mother of Grief Author Suspected in Husband's Death

A recent court affidavit has uncovered the possibility that Lisa Darden, the mother of Kouri Richins, may have been involved in the death of her husband, Eric Richins, who was allegedly poisoned. The Summit County Sheriff's investigator stated in the affidavit that it is possible Darden played a role in "planning and orchestrating" Eric Richins' demise.

Investigations revealed that Darden had been residing with a female partner who passed away suddenly in 2006. The autopsy indicated that the woman died from an oxycodone overdose. Despite her history of drug abuse, the investigator noted that the woman was not in recovery at the time of her death, making an accidental overdose unlikely. It was also noted that Darden had become the beneficiary of the partner's estate shortly before her demise.

Furthermore, the affidavit mentioned conversations retrieved from Kouri's phone displaying Lisa's negative feelings towards Eric.

"Considering Lisa Darden's close proximity to her partner's suspicious overdose and her connection to Kouri, it is plausible that she had a hand in planning Eric's death," the affidavit reads.

As of now, no charges have been brought against Lisa Darden.

Tragedy struck the Richins family when Eric Richins was discovered lifeless in his bed following a celebratory evening with his wife and her mother. The night had been filled with joy after Kouri Richins successfully closed a real estate deal for her business, but it took a dark turn.

Investigations revealed that Eric Richins had succumbed to fentanyl poisoning, with a shocking five times the lethal dose of the drug found in his system. The fentanyl was determined to be of "illicit" nature, not pharmaceutical grade, as stated in the affidavit.

Suspicions arose within Eric Richins' family, pointing fingers at Kouri Richins for allegedly spiking his drink on the fatal night, as reported by "48 Hours."

A year following her husband's tragic demise, Kouri Richins penned a children's book focusing on coping with grief. She took to a local TV show called "Good Things Utah" to promote her book, but her life took a drastic turn when she was arrested just a month later.

Darden, the mother of Kouri Richins, expressed her shock in an interview with "48 Hours" regarding her daughter's arrest. She described the couple's marriage as strong yet not devoid of issues, despite having three sons together. Eric Richins ran a flourishing masonry business in Utah, while Kouri Richins focused on selling houses through her real estate business. However, prosecutors alleged that Kouri Richins had been embezzling funds from her husband's account since 2019, a claim vehemently denied by her family.
