In an announcement on Saturday, Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro confirmed his intention to run for a third term in the upcoming elections on July 28. The ruling PSUV party officially nominated Maduro for the candidacy, with PSUV official Diosdado Cabello stating that he was elected "by acclamation" at a party conference.
Accepting the nomination, the 61-year-old Maduro expressed confidence in securing another victory for his party. Despite facing challenges such as sanctions, economic downturn, and allegations of widespread repression during his 11 years in office, Maduro remains determined to continue leading Venezuela.
