Recovered Bodies of Hostages in Gaza
The bodies of two hostages have been recovered by the Israeli military in Gaza and have been brought back to Israel on Tuesday.
The two hostages have been identified as Eden Zakaria, 27, and Ziv Dado, 36.
According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Zakaria was attending a music festival in southern Israel on October 7 when Hamas militants attacked the site. Dado, who was a soldier in the Israeli military, served as a logistics supervisor in the Golani Brigade's 51st Battalion and was taken hostage during the attacks.
The IDF also reported that two reserve soldiers were killed and several others were wounded during the military operations that led to the recovery of the bodies.
During a temporary cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hamas last month, approximately 100 hostages were released by Hamas. However, the truce ended and fighting in Gaza resumed. The cease-fire agreement, which was mediated by the U.S., Egypt, and Qatar, was originally intended to last for four days but was extended to seven days. As part of the agreement, around 240 Palestinian prisoners held in Israel were released.
Israel Prepared for Long Fight Against Hamas
Israel's military has announced that it is ready to engage in a months-long battle, or even longer, in order to defeat Hamas.
The Health Ministry in Gaza, which is controlled by Hamas, has reported that the ongoing conflict has resulted in the deaths of over 18,000 individuals in the region, with thousands more being injured. Humanitarian organizations have expressed concerns about the dire conditions, including extreme hunger, suffering, and misery. They emphasize that there is no safe place for civilians in Gaza.
