Tragic Loss: Anna "Chickadee" Cardwell Dies at 29
Anna "Chickadee" Cardwell, the daughter of reality TV star Mama June Shannon, has passed away at the age of 29 due to complications from stage four adrenal carcinoma.
Mama June Shannon shared the heartbreaking news of her daughter's passing in an Instagram post on December 9th. Alongside a family photo, Shannon wrote, "With a breaking heart, we are announcing that [Cardwell] is no longer with us. She passed away in my home last night peacefully at 11:12 PM. She gave one hell of a fight for 10 months. She passed away with her family around her, like she won't, and we will be updating y'all with more information as we get it today."
"We love y'all and continue prayers and thoughts for our family," Shannon added.
Cardwell rose to fame as she starred alongside her sister in the reality show "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo," which aired on TLC from 2012 to 2014.
Diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal carcinoma in January, Cardwell fought a brave battle against the terminal cancer.
Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson, Cardwell's younger sister, also posted a heartfelt tribute, stating that Cardwell was surrounded by family in her final moments.
"I never wanted to write this, but it must be done," Thompson expressed on Instagram. "Yesterday, we gathered around Anna, showering her with love and assuring her that it was alright to depart. Sadly, at approximately 11pm, Anna took her final breath. Anna endured immense suffering last night, but as a united family, we find solace in knowing that she is now at peace."
"Today, the sky appears slightly altered," she continued. "Anna, we will forever hold you in our hearts."
