First responders in Tennessee were surveying damage from an apparent tornado that damaged homes on Saturday as a line of severe storms raked the area.
"We've been hit very hard by a tornado here in Clarksville and Montgomery County," said the county mayor.
"We still have a lot of power lines down, there are a lot of areas that are unsafe," the mayor added.
Residents were asked to stay at home while first responders evaluated the situation. The city spokesman mentioned that they didn't have any further information on the number of structures damaged or possible injuries.
"We know there's extensive damage throughout the community, so we need to take care of families who are desperately in need of help," said the city mayor.
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office stated that a tornado hit the area at approximately 2 p.m. local time, causing damage to several homes. Although no injuries or missing individuals have been confirmed, the authorities are conducting a thorough search of the affected area.
In response to the situation, a shelter has been established at a nearby high school.
Multiple tornado warnings were issued in Tennessee by the National Weather Service, which also announced plans to assess the damage caused by an apparent tornado in Kentucky.
