Shohei Ohtani Signs with the Dodgers
Shohei Ohtani took to his Instagram account on Saturday to announce that he will be joining the Los Angeles Dodgers. This decision comes after spending six seasons with the Angels.
Speculation about Ohtani's next move has been circulating for days, but Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed earlier this week that the team had met with the baseball superstar.
With this signing, Ohtani's deal with the Dodgers surpasses the previous record of $426.5 million. This record was set in 2019 when the Angels signed outfielder Mike Trout to a 12-year deal.
In his Instagram post, Ohtani expressed his gratitude towards the Angels organization for their support. However, he also had a special message for Dodgers fans:
"I pledge to always do what's best for the team and to continuously push myself to be the best version of me. From the beginning till the end of my playing career, I will strive not only for the Dodgers but for the entire baseball community," Ohtani stated.
Ohtani's Press Conference Announcement
Ohtani has recently signaled that there will be a press conference in the near future to discuss his decision and provide updates on what is to come.
