Stabbing Attack in Paris Leaves One Dead and Two Wounded

A stabbing attack in Paris on Saturday evening resulted in the death of one person and left two others wounded, according to French authorities. The suspect has been apprehended.

"Police officers have just bravely arrested an attacker who was targeting pedestrians in Paris, near the Quai de Grenelle," stated French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin on social media.

"The assailant attacked a couple who were foreign tourists," Darmanin explained. "A German tourist, who was born in the Philippines, succumbed to the stabbing."

The Paris prosecutor's office revealed that the attacker is a French national, born in 1997, and has been arrested as part of a murder and attempted murder investigation. French anti-terror prosecutors have also announced their intention to examine the incident.

Darmanin added that the suspect had already received a four-year prison sentence in 2016 for planning another attack. At that time, he was detained by the French national security agency prior to carrying out the planned act.
