Doctors Scientific Organica Recalls Protein Bars Due to Foreign Material Contamination
Doctors Scientific Organica, a Florida-based company, has issued a voluntary recall for certain protein bars distributed throughout the United States. The recall is being conducted due to the potential presence of foreign materials, including disposable hairnets, shrink wrap, and parchment paper. The announcement was made on Wednesday.
The affected products are the Burn Boot Camp Afterburn Grass-Fed Whey Protein Bars Triple Chocolate Almond flavor, which were manufactured by Doctors Scientific and sold at retail locations operated by Burn Boot Camp, a gym franchise. The recall applies to three specific batches of the protein bars.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has posted a notice regarding the recall on their website. According to Doctors Scientific, the presence of foodborne foreign objects that are flexible and not sharp may pose a risk of minor injuries, such as transient choking or gastrointestinal system injury.
The recalled protein bars weigh 60 grams each and can be identified by one of the following three lot numbers printed on the back of the foil for each bar, as well as on the bottom of each cardboard case: 181, 184, 187.
Consumers who have purchased the affected protein bars are advised not to consume them. Instead, they should return the products to the place of purchase or dispose of them properly, as instructed by the company.
