Florida rescue workers came to the aid of a woman who found herself trapped during a shark tooth hunting expedition, according to authorities.

The North Port Fire Rescue received a call on Friday night about a person in Sarasota County who had potentially injured their leg from a fall, as stated in a Facebook post made by the agency.

Upon arrival, rescue workers discovered a woman at the bottom of a dig site where she had been searching for shark teeth, according to the agency.

"The excavation caused the wall to collapse, temporarily burying the victim completely," officials explained.

Prior to the arrival of the rescue team, the woman's friends were able to free her from underneath the debris, as reported by the rescue officials.

With the assistance of their Technical Rescue Team, the North Port Fire Rescue utilized ropes and a Stokes basket to lift the woman up the 12-foot wall to ground level, according to the rescue officials.

"Throughout the rescue operation, the victim remained conscious and aware," stated the rescue officials.

The Sarasota County Fire Department also arrived at the scene and helped transport the woman to a local hospital for further medical attention, officials confirmed.
