Mobile Home Fire in Ohio Claims Five Lives
Tragedy struck on Thanksgiving morning in Ohio as a mobile home fire claimed the lives of five people, including two children, according to authorities.
Emergency responders from the Ohio Department of Commerce were summoned to a residence on Rainbow Lake Road, south of Athens, at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Thursday. Upon arrival, they discovered two mobile homes engulfed in flames and an outbuilding that had also sustained damage.
Brandon Klein, spokesperson for the commerce department, revealed that a lone occupant managed to escape the fire and was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time, Klein added.
The identities of the victims have not yet been released. The state fire marshal's office, in conjunction with the county sheriff's office and the county coroner, is currently conducting an investigation into the incident.
According to authorities who spoke with WLWT-TV and WOWK-TV, two of the victims were children. Chief Dale Sinclair of the Richland Area Volunteer Fire Department expressed the difficulty of the situation, stating, "Any kind of fatality, it's hard. When there's five and there's children involved, it adds to it."
