Woman Found Dead in Florida Storage Unit

A woman's body was discovered over the weekend inside a storage unit in Florida that was registered to her estranged husband. Authorities have identified him as the primary suspect in her murder.

The victim, Shakeira Rucker, was first reported missing about a week before her body was found on Saturday. Orange County Sheriff John Mina announced during a news conference on Sunday that Rucker died from an apparent gunshot wound.

The sheriff's office had been assisting the Winter Springs Police Department in a search for Rucker, which spanned multiple counties in Florida. She was last seen on November 11, in security footage that showed her with Cory Hill, her estranged husband. Hill was named a person of interest in her case on Tuesday, according to CBS affiliate WKMG-TV.

By Sunday, Hill had been detained in the Orange County jail and was being held without bond. Sheriff Mina stated that Hill also faces four counts of attempted homicide for a separate incident on November 12, where he allegedly shot at his girlfriend and family members.

"The suspect in this case is currently under investigation and we have no reason to believe that anyone else is involved," stated Mina. "Eventually, he will face charges for the murder."

"Shakeira's family received notification this evening," mentioned the Orange County Sheriff's Office in a Facebook post on Saturday, providing an update on the search for Rucker. "We stand in solidarity with them and our detectives are fully dedicated to ensuring justice is served in this case."

Following the press conference, Rucker's family members and loved ones gathered for a vigil on Sunday.
