Actress Suzanne Shepherd Dies at 89
Suzanne Shepherd, the beloved actress known for her roles on "The Sopranos" and "Goodfellas," has passed away at the age of 89, according to her agency.
Shepherd died peacefully in her New York City home early Friday morning. She is survived by her daughter Kate Shepherd, son-in-law Miles McManus, and granddaughter Isabelle Shepherd.
Shepherd was best known for her memorable performances as Karen Hill's mother in "Goodfellas" and Carmela Soprano's mother in "The Sopranos." She was one of the talented actors who appeared in both iconic productions.
Ray Abruzzo, who portrayed Little Carmine Lupertazzi in "The Sopranos," expressed his grief over Shepherd's passing in an Instagram post. He described her as a "force of nature" and praised her as both an actress and a teacher.
Shepherd began her acting career in the 1988 film "Mystic Pizza" and went on to appear in other notable films such as "Lolita" and "A Dirty Shame." In addition to her acting work, she also worked as a director and an acting teacher.
