Airman Killed by Deputy While Girlfriend Watches Over FaceTime
The tragic incident involving Senior Airman Roger Fortson, 23, has shaken many as his girlfriend witnessed the fatal shooting over FaceTime. The events unfolded when Fortson, on a video call with his girlfriend, heard knocking on his door. Despite seeing no one through the peephole, he armed himself with a gun, as recounted by attorney Ben Crump during a news conference.
According to Crump, the deputy entered Fortson's apartment, encountered him with the gun, and fired the fatal shot. "She literally watched them walk over him as he was dying, taking his last breath," Fortson's attorney expressed, highlighting the heartbreaking moment.
While the girlfriend's identity remains undisclosed, it is known that she has legal representation to navigate this traumatic experience.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office in the Florida panhandle has stated that the involved deputy, who remains unnamed, was responding to a disturbance call and asserts that the shooting was an act of self-defense.
