Luxury Fitness Chain Equinox Introduces $36,000 Membership Aimed at Extending Life
Equinox, known for its upscale fitness facilities, is now offering a membership that comes with a price tag of $36,000 per year. This exclusive membership, called "Optimize by Equinox," includes over 100 tests designed to improve health and increase longevity.
For a total of $42,000 annually, members can access personalized training, nutritional guidance, biomarker monitoring, and more. The focus is on enhancing daily physical performance and slowing down the aging process. Additionally, a basic gym membership can be added for an extra $500 per month.
Teaming up with Function Health, Equinox has created this premium membership to provide in-depth lab tests that allow members to assess and track various aspects of their health, such as heart health, immune function, hormone levels, glucose, insulin, and metabolism.
This program is not just about longevity, but also about enhancing health and quality of life," stated Julia Klim, vice president of strategic partnerships and business development at Equinox. "It involves daily habits because we believe that true change requires consistent effort, rather than quick fixes for issues like poor sleep or lack of exercise. Participants commit to a personalized program tailored to their goals, whether it's improving fitness, increasing energy levels, or slowing down the aging process."
Regardless of individual objectives, the program will incorporate a comprehensive range of assessments to evaluate both physical and mental performance. Additionally, it will offer regular nutrition guidance, sleep support, personal training, and massages, resulting in approximately 16 hours of personalized attention each month from various health and fitness professionals.
"We are enhancing the program with more assessments and integrating closer with healthcare," Klim explained. "Our collaboration with Function Health brings together experts from different fields."
Despite the steep cost, there is already a waiting list for enrollment in the program, set to launch at the end of May. Initially, membership will be exclusive to New York, with plans for expansion to other cities in the future. The program is reserved for members of Equinox's top-tier membership, E by Equinox, which starts at approximately $500 per month.
Klim likened the membership, priced at $3,000 per month with a minimum commitment of six months, to the suite of services typically available only to professional athletes.
"Bringing a team-based approach to individual wellness has historically been reserved for elite athletes," Klim explained. "Our goal is to extend that concept to both the everyday person and high-performing individuals, such as our Equinox members."
