Washington — Sen. Bernie Sanders, a Vermont independent, declared on Monday his intention to run for reelection in November.
In a video shared on social media, the 82-year-old senator expressed his desire to serve a fourth term in the Senate, emphasizing that his time in the upper chamber has been a profound honor. Sanders highlighted a range of progressive priorities that he remains committed to advancing.
"I am announcing today my decision to seek another term," Sanders stated, underscoring his ability to offer essential support to the people of Vermont during challenging times.
Reflecting on the upcoming election, Sanders emphasized its significance, calling it "the most crucial national election in our lifetimes." He urged for a vigorous defense of democracy and pointed to his past achievements in promoting progressive policies. Sanders outlined his ongoing priorities, including universal healthcare, reducing prescription drug costs, environmental conservation, and safeguarding women's access to reproductive healthcare.
