Rosie O'Donnell took to social media to announce her role in the "Sex and the City" spinoff "And Just Like That..."
Sharing a snapshot of a script for season three, episode one of the Max series, O'Donnell disclosed that her character's name is Mary. The photo, helmed by the show's veteran writer and director Michael Patrick King, doesn't give away much about O'Donnell's part in the show.
Max, the streaming service previously known as HBO, confirmed in August 2023 that the series would be making a comeback for a third season.
While the original "Sex and the City" featured four main characters portrayed by Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis, and Kim Cattrall, Cattrall opted out of the spinoff, with only a brief cameo as her character Samantha Jones at the conclusion of season two.
"Sex and the City," which originally aired from 1998 to 2004 on HBO, chronicled the lives of four friends in New York City as they navigated love and relationships. The spinoff, debuting in 2021, continues to follow the lives of Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte, along with the new individuals in their circle.
In the alternate reality of "And Just Like That..." Miranda is on a journey of self-discovery, exploring her sexuality by dating a nonbinary comedian named Che Diaz, portrayed by Sara Ramirez. Unfortunately, news broke earlier this year that Ramirez will not be returning for the upcoming third season, scheduled to debut in 2025.
The conclusion of season two saw Miranda and Che parting ways, Carrie pausing her relationship with Aidan and embarking on a beach trip with new friend Seema, while Charlotte continued to navigate the challenges of being a working mother.
Sarah Jessica Parker and Cynthia Nixon teased fans by sharing glimpses of their season three scripts on social media, with Parker exclaiming, "Here. We. Go!"
