Over the weekend, chaos ensued on the roads of Washington state as four zebras made a daring escape from a trailer, prompting a wild pursuit involving the state patrol and a former rodeo bullfighter.
Rick Johnson, a public information officer for the Washington State Patrol, took to social media to share the unusual event, describing it as a "first" for himself and all the troopers involved.
"4 Zebras that were being transported got loose when the driver stopped to secure the trailer," Johnson wrote online. "...Crazy!!"
According to Kristine Keltgen, the owner of the zebras, she was transporting the animals from a private home in Winlock to their petting zoo in Montana. During a stop to address a dragging floor mat in the trailer, the zebras took advantage of the situation and bolted away.

In a surprising turn of events, a former rodeo bullfighter, David Danton, came to the rescue when four zebras were found roaming on a highway in Washington state. Danton, who had years of experience dealing with excited animals, used his skills to corral the zebras with the help of his wife, Julie Danton.
Using rope, metal panels, and a garden hose, Danton managed to corral two of the zebras into an enclosed space on a nearby horse farm and eventually loaded them into a trailer. By the end of the day, three out of the four zebras had been captured, but one still remains missing in the North Bend area.
Authorities are urging the public to be on the lookout for the missing zebra and to report any sightings to the police or the Regional Animal Services of King County. Danton advised against approaching the zebra, as it may cause the animal to run off and get lost again.
