Prince Harry is set to make a long-awaited return to the United Kingdom, marking his first visit since his brief trip to see his father King Charles III following the public announcement of his cancer diagnosis earlier this year. The prince, along with the Invictus Games Foundation, revealed the news on Sunday.

On May 8, the Duke of Sussex will be present at the thanksgiving service celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games Foundation in London.

During the service at St. Paul's Cathedral, Prince Harry will deliver a reading, while actor Damian Lewis is scheduled to recite a poem. It remains uncertain if Harry's wife, Meghan Markle, will join him on the trip from California, where the couple resides with their two children.

The Invictus Games, a sporting event for military personnel injured in action, was established by the prince in 2014, with its inaugural event held in London.

The upcoming ceremony will commemorate a "decade of changing lives and saving lives through sport," as stated by a spokesperson for the Invictus Games.

Reports of the prince's arrival in London surfaced just days after an official announcement from the Royal Palace confirming that King Charles III is set to resume his public duties next week. The palace expressed optimism regarding the king's progress in his battle against cancer, stating that his recovery is on a positive trajectory.

Prince Harry recently paid a brief visit to his father's residence at Clarence House in central London, following the news of the king's health condition.

Before departing from the U.S., Harry had a conversation with his father about the cancer diagnosis, as confirmed by Buckingham Palace. King Charles personally shared the news of his health with both his sons, Harry and William, as well as his siblings Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward.

Aside from the king's health concerns, the royal family faced another health challenge when Catherine, the Princess of Wales, also known as Kate Middleton, revealed that she was undergoing preventive chemotherapy after undergoing abdominal surgery in January. In response, Harry and Meghan released a statement expressing their well wishes for Kate's recovery and offering their support to her and the family during this difficult time.
