Breaking News: Rep. Donald Payne Jr. from New Jersey Passes Away at 65
Washington— Rep. Donald Payne Jr., a Democrat from New Jersey, has tragically passed away at the age of 65, as confirmed by New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy.
Payne had been hospitalized since early April due to complications from his diabetes, which led to a cardiac episode. Despite being in "stable condition" and under doctor's care, Payne's health took a turn for the worse.
First elected to the House in 2012, Payne was seeking reelection in New Jersey's 10th Congressional District. He succeeded his late father, Rep. Donald Payne Sr., who passed away from colon cancer.
He is survived by his wife and their three children.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
