Tragedy Strikes at Michigan Boat Club Birthday Party
A devastating incident occurred at a birthday party in Michigan when a suspected drunken driver crashed into the celebration, resulting in the deaths of a young brother and sister. The tragic event took place at the Swan Creek Boat Club in Berlin Township, approximately 30 miles south of Detroit.
According to Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough, the vehicle, driven by a 66-year-old woman, plowed 25 feet into the building where the party was being held at around 3 p.m. The crash claimed the lives of an 8-year-old girl and her 5-year-old brother. In addition to the fatalities, 15 people were injured, with several in critical condition.
While the sheriff did not disclose the identity of the driver, he confirmed that she was taken into custody on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing death. Despite the tragic outcome, he mentioned that the driver was cooperating with the authorities.
