Excitement reached a fever pitch before the release of Taylor Swift's newest album, "The Tortured Poets Department," at midnight EDT. Fans were in for a surprise as the pop superstar unveiled that the album is actually a double album.
Part One was released with 17 tracks, and Swift took to Instagram to announce, "All's fair in love and poetry... New album THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT. Out now 🤍"
The big shock came when Swift shared in an Instagram post that, "It's a 2am surprise: The Tortured Poets Department is a secret DOUBLE album. ✌️ I'd written so much tortured poetry in the past 2 years and wanted to share it all with you, so here's the second installment of TTPD: The Anthology. 15 extra songs. And now the story isn't mine anymore… it's all yours. 🤍."
Leading up to the album's release, Swift revealed on social media that the first single, "Fortnight," featuring Post Malone, was already out along with its music video.
Swift commended Post Malone's musical experimentation and melodies, describing them as "that just stick in your head forever."
"I got to witness that magic come to life firsthand when we worked together on Fortnight," Swift said in a post on X.
"Fortnight" isn't the only track on the album on which Swift worked with another artist. Florence and The Machine is also featured.
