Multiple states experienced a disruption in emergency dispatch services late last night, resulting in the inability for residents to call 911.

The City of Del Rio Police Department in Texas attributed the outage to a major cellular carrier issue, without specifying the carrier responsible.

During the outage, affected areas advised residents to use non-emergency contact numbers.

In Las Vegas, Nevada, officials reported that 911 calls from landlines were not functioning, but dispatchers were still able to receive incoming calls. Dispatchers proactively reached out to return calls from numbers that attempted to dial in.

According to Henderson County, Nevada officials, texts sent to the 911 number were successfully received even when the phone line was down.

Authorities informed CBS News that all calls made during the outage were addressed, and an investigation into the cause of the disruption is currently ongoing.
