Warwick Davis, known for his role as Professor Flitwick in the "Harry Potter" film series, is grieving the loss of his wife and fellow actress Samantha Davis. Samantha, who appeared in the "Harry Potter" movies alongside her husband, passed away at the age of 53 on March 24.
In a statement issued by Lucasfilm Ltd., Warwick Davis expressed his deep sorrow, describing his wife as his "most trusted confidante" and highlighting the significant void her absence has left in their family.
"I miss her warm embraces. She was a one-of-a-kind individual, always finding the bright side of life. Her sense of humor was unmatched, and she never failed to chuckle at my cheesy jokes," he shared. "She was dedicated to aiding others, devoid of any prejudice. She made time for everyone and possessed a truly empathetic ear."
The couple first met on the set of the movie "Willow" in 1988 and tied the knot three years later. Throughout their careers, they collaborated on various projects, including "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2," where Samantha portrayed a goblin.
"She was more than just my partner, she was my superhero. With her unwavering support, I felt invincible. It was like having a superpower," shared Warwick Davis. "Without Sammy, there would be no Tenable Quiz show, no 'Willow' series, no 'Idiot Abroad Series 3.'"
Together, the couple established the charity Little People UK in 2012, aiming to be a beacon of support for individuals with dwarfism. The charity released a statement announcing her passing on Thursday, expressing, "Her dedication to uplifting members of the community was unparalleled."
"We understand the magnitude of this loss for everyone and want to assure you that we will stand by your side," the charity shared on social media.
Lucasfilm Ltd., the renowned production company behind "Willow" and "Star Wars," in which Warwick Davis also starred, paid tribute to Samantha as "a cherished member of the Lucasfilm family."
While CBS News has not disclosed the cause of her passing, Warwick Davis mentioned that his wife had been facing mobility issues in recent times. Nevertheless, "she remained resolute that it would not hinder her quality of life or limit her endeavors and accomplishments."
"Despite the agony of losing Sammy and the void her absence leaves, I am grateful to have shared 35 magical years with her," expressed Davis.
Their children, Annabelle and Harrison Davis, shared a heartfelt message, describing their mother as "the most compassionate, inspiring, and loving presence in our lives." They expressed gratitude for her unwavering support, guidance, and unwavering love. "Her spirit will continue to guide us as we navigate life without her physical presence. Every step we take is a tribute to her enduring legacy," they stated.
