Jessica Alba Steps Down as Chief Creative Officer at Honest Company
Jessica Alba, known for her roles in "Dark Angel," "Sin City," and the "Fantastic Four," is stepping down as chief creative officer at Honest Company, the personal care company she founded.
Alba will maintain a seat on the company board but will shift her focus to "new endeavors," according to a statement from Honest.
The actress launched Honest in 2012 after experiencing allergic reactions to baby laundry detergents. The company went public in May 2021, with shares surging 44% in their stock market debut.
Sales at Honest Co. have been steadily increasing, but profitability has been a challenge. However, the company recently announced its first profitable quarter since mid-2021.
"Honest has been a true labor of love for me — one that showed me what's possible when you infuse purpose into business," Alba expressed in a prepared statement.
Alba's early acting career included roles in Nickelodeon's "The Secret World of Alex Mack" and the revival of the 1960s series "Flipper."
Shares of Honest Co., headquartered in Los Angeles, experienced a slight decline before the opening bell on Wednesday.
