Tragedy Strikes at Francis Scott Key Bridge Site
Authorities have reported that a third construction worker's body has been found at the site of the Francis Scott Key Bridge wreckage. The Unified Command dive teams made the grim discovery on Friday, April 5.
The body of 38-year-old Maynor Yasir Suazo-Sandoval was recovered around 10:30 in the morning on Friday. This somber event follows the retrieval of two other bodies from a submerged vehicle on March 28, just two days after the Key Bridge collapse.
Details surrounding the location of Suazo-Sandoval's body within the wreckage have not been disclosed by investigators. However, it has been confirmed that the Maryland State Police's Underwater Recovery Team assisted in the recovery efforts. Additionally, officials from Governor Moore's Office of Immigrant Affairs held a meeting with Suazo-Sandoval's family on Friday to offer their support.
"The collapse of the Key Bridge has presented us with one of our most difficult challenges as a law enforcement agency. Despite this, we are determined to persevere with the support of our local, state, and federal public safety partners," stated Colonel Roland L. Butler, Jr., Superintendent of the Maryland Department of State Police. "There are still families anxiously awaiting news about their missing loved ones. I want to assure them that we are fully dedicated to providing closure for each and every one of these families," he affirmed.
