Former "Law & Order" star Angie Harmon shared a heartbreaking story of an Instacart driver delivering groceries to her North Carolina home who tragically shot and killed her family's dog on Saturday.
Harmon took to Instagram to post about the incident, accompanied by several photos of the beloved dog named Oliver. According to Harmon, the male delivery driver dropped off the groceries before shooting Oliver. The actor mentioned that her family had a Ring camera, but it was charging inside and did not record any footage of the heartbreaking event. Harmon expressed her belief that the man may have noticed the absence of the Ring camera.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department verified the incident, with the driver claiming to have fired in self-defense as the dog had allegedly attacked him. However, Harmon refuted this account by stating that the driver "did not have a scratch or bite on him nor were his pants torn."
Authorities have not pressed any charges in connection to the incident.
Instacart released a statement mentioning that the driver will no longer be making deliveries for them.
"The delivery company expressed deep sorrow and concern upon learning of the incident," a spokesperson stated. "They emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of violence and promptly suspended the shopper's account. The company is actively engaged with the customer and collaborating with law enforcement in their inquiries."
Reports indicate that the Instacart driver had been using a female customer's profile, a detail that was not addressed by authorities or Instacart in their official remarks.
In response to the tragic event, the former star of "Rizzoli and Isles" conveyed her family's profound grief.
"The loss of our cherished family member has left us shattered and in deep distress," she shared.
