Authorities have apprehended an individual following an incident where an SUV crashed into the front gate of the FBI Atlanta field office around midday on Monday, as per a law enforcement source.
Reportedly, the suspect tried to enter the secure area by tailgating another vehicle that was passing through the gate using employee badges. However, the gate prevented the suspect's vehicle from proceeding, leading the driver to flee on foot. Fortunately, FBI agents in the vicinity managed to capture the individual shortly after.
The suspect was taken into custody and handed over to officers from the Dekalb County Police Department. The department is currently in the process of obtaining arrest warrants for the suspect, while the FBI is considering potential state or federal charges.
Although the suspect's identity remains undisclosed and has no affiliation with the FBI office, FBI Atlanta mentioned in a statement that the individual was transported to a nearby hospital for assessment. The motive behind the incident has not been determined at this time.
