Washington — President Biden announced his upcoming visit to Baltimore next week in the wake of the tragic collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge.

During a press briefing at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, Mr. Biden shared his plans after returning from a high-profile fundraiser in New York City alongside former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton.

The Biden administration swiftly approved $60 million in federal aid to aid in the cleanup efforts following the devastating incident caused by a cargo container ship colliding with the bridge, resulting in the loss of six lives.

"The federal emergency funds being allocated today will kickstart Maryland's critical cleanup operations, with further financial support to come as the recovery and reconstruction progress," stated Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on Thursday.

Mr. Biden reiterated his commitment to covering the entire cost of rebuilding the bridge, emphasizing the significance of reopening the Port of Baltimore due to its substantial economic impact and the thousands of jobs it sustains.

"The citizens of Baltimore have my full support," declared the president on Tuesday. "We will stand by you for as long as necessary."
