Taylor Swift's father, Scott Swift, will not face charges for allegedly punching a photographer in Australia, New South Wales Police Force confirmed to CBS News.

The incident occurred in February when Swift was in Melbourne for her Eras Tour.

In a statement to CBS News at the time, a representative for Taylor Swift told CBS News that "two individuals were aggressively pushing their way towards Taylor, grabbing at her security personnel, and threatening to throw a female staff member into the water."

McDonald told police Swift assaulted him. "There were about four or five security there and at one point, one of the American security started shoving his umbrella into me and my camera and then Taylor got in her car," McDonald then told the AP.

"I was suddenly approached by another individual who ran towards me and struck me on the left side of my face. At first, I believed it was an Australian security personnel attempting to play the hero in front of the Americans, but it turned out to be her father," McDonald recounted.

The authorities of the New South Wales Police Force refrained from disclosing the identities of those involved but affirmed that they were looking into a 71-year-old man who reportedly assaulted a 51-year-old man at 2:30 a.m.

McDonald later recognized Scott Swift from an image online. "In my 23 years of experience, I have never encountered such an assault and being punched in the face, especially by the father of the artist," he shared with the AP.

According to the police, Scott Swift departed Australia shortly after the incident. Taylor Swift also departed via private jet following seven consecutive sold-out stadium performances in the nation.

Fans, who affectionately referred to the celebrity's father as "Papa Swift," came to Scott's defense through social media posts.

Authorities informed CBS News that following a thorough investigation of the matter, they have decided not to pursue any further action regarding the incident.
