Nicholas Galitzine's talent shines in various film roles. In the highly-anticipated movie "The Idea of You," acting alongside Anne Hathaway, he embodies a young man entangled in a romance with an older character played by Hathaway. The film has attracted attention for its exploration of relationships spanning age discrepancies, yet Galitzine reveals that the movie delves deeper into the journey of self-discovery.
"I believe it's a fantastic film about a woman entering her forties, rediscovering her sexuality with a younger man. I find it to be a truly intriguing and unique perspective," expressed Galitzine.
Transitioning from a modern setting to a historical drama, Galitzine also takes on the role of George Villiers in "Mary and George," depicting a character with a notorious reputation in the English court. Despite his initial lack of knowledge about Villiers, Galitzine was captivated by the character's complex history and impact.
"Most of what we portray in the series stays true to historical facts," shared Galitzine.
The show delves into Villiers' intricate relationships with his mother and his influential position as the Duke of Buckingham, weaving together a narrative of power, allure, and political scheming.
Portraying Villiers authentically required Galitzine to acquire new skills, such as horseback riding and playing the viola da gamba, a historical musical instrument.
"The most challenging thing I've ever done is perform in front of a room of approximately 200 people while trying to maintain composure. I had to strive for elegance in my playing, which was quite a feat," he shared.
Galitzine, whose acting career is blossoming following a standout performance in the film "Red, White & Royal Blue," views his transition to acting as a stroke of luck after pursuing rugby for most of his life.
"I sustained multiple injuries while playing rugby, including concussions and rotator cuff injuries. It's quite serendipitous that I delved into acting just a few months after stepping away from the sport," he reflected.
