Search and Rescue Mission Underway in Chester

Authorities in Chester are currently engaged in a search and rescue operation following a report that a 6-year-old girl fell into Chester Creek. The U.S. Coast Guard is involved in the mission, working alongside the Chester Bureau of Fire and Delaware County's water rescue team.

The Coast Guard has deployed a small boat and a helicopter to assist in the search efforts. In addition, Delaware County emergency services have set up light towers to improve visibility for the search crews. Drones equipped with infrared and thermal imaging technology have also been launched to aid in the nighttime search.

Chester Fire Commissioner John-Paul Shirley emphasized the challenges posed by the rapid currents and debris in the water, which could endanger responders. However, he expressed confidence in the training and preparedness of the rescue teams to handle such conditions.
