In a shocking turn of events, a former executive at Yoozoo Games has been sentenced to death for the 2020 poisoning of the company's founder. Xu Yao poisoned the food of founder Lin Qi in December 2020 following a dispute over the management of the business, according to the Shanghai First Intermediate People's Court.

Lin, just 39 years old, tragically passed away about 10 days after being poisoned. Xu was detained by police shortly after Lin's death. The Hollywood Reporter, referencing local media, reported that Lin was allegedly poisoned by a cup of pu-erh tea.

Furthermore, four other individuals fell ill but fortunately survived after Xu poisoned beverages in the office between September and December 2020 due to disagreements with two of them, as stated by the court.

A game titled "Game of Thrones: Winter Is Coming" was developed by Yoozoo, also known as Youzu Interactive, based on the popular TV series.

Back in 2000, Lin was ranked No. 870 among China's wealthiest entrepreneurs with a net worth of 6.8 billion yuan ($1 billion), as reported by Hurun Report, a publication that tracks China's affluent individuals.

Following Lin's passing, his company released a heartfelt statement on its official Weibo microblog.

The statement read, "Goodbye youth," and continued, "We will stand together, uphold kindness, believe in goodness, and persist in the battle against all forms of evil."
