One of the most highly coveted honors in Hollywood is becoming an EGOT — one of those rare performers who's won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony. Cinching these major awards in TV, music, film and Broadway isn't easy and only 19 people have done it so far. Here is a full list of EGOT winners.

19. Elton John

The singer completed his EGOT in 2024 when he took home an Emmy Award for outstanding variety special (live) for his show "Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium." His movie and stage musicals, like "The Lion King" and "Aida," have helped him win awards in both film and stage. He has won five Grammys, two Oscars and a Tony.

18. Viola Davis

Davis earned EGOT status in 2023 when she received a Grammy for best audio book, narration, and storytelling recording for the audiobook for her memoir, "Finding Me." The actress won the best supporting actress Oscar for "Fences," as well as an Emmy and two Grammys.

17. Jennifer Hudson

When she won a Tony for producing the hit Broadway musical "A Strange Loop" in 2022, Hudson became just the 17th EGOT winner. The "American Idol" alum is a two-time Grammy winner and also won the best supporting actress Oscar for her role in the movie musical "Dreamgirls." She also won an outstanding interactive media Emmy for "Baba Yaga," a 2020 short.

16. Alan Menken

Composer Alan Menken became an EGOT when he won an Emmy in 2020. Menken is behind the music of several Disney movies, including "The Little Mermaid," "Aladdin," and "Beauty and the Beast," which all contributed to his EGOT status.

15. John Legend

Legend is the first Black man and one of the youngest people — at age 39 years and eight months old — to become an EGOT winner, completing the feat in 2018 when he won an Emmy for NBC's live version of "Jesus Christ Superstar." 

The singer-songwriter has won an Oscar for best original song in 2015 for "Glory" and a Tony for producing the Vroadway musical "Jitney." He has a whopping 36 Grammy nominations and 12 wins.

14. Tim Rice 

The lyricist behind "Jesus Christ Superstar" also earned his EGOT in 2018 when the live version of the musical won an Emmy. Rice, a collaborator of Elton John and Alan Menken, is behind musicals like "Evita," "Aladdin," "Aida," and "The Lion King," which helped him earn the majority of this other awards.

13. Andrew Lloyd Webber

Andrew Lloyd Webber is a renowned composer who achieved EGOT status in 2018 with the live production of "Jesus Christ Superstar." Alongside this achievement, Webber has also been recognized for his work on the movie musical "Evita," as well as his contributions to iconic productions like "Cats" and "Phantom of the Opera." 

12. Robert Lopez

Robert Lopez became the youngest EGOT winner at the age of 39 in 2014. He earned two Oscars for his work on the hit film "Frozen," and has also received accolades for his contributions to other musicals such as "The Book of Mormon." 

11. Scott Rudin

Scott Rudin is a highly acclaimed producer who has achieved EGOT status with an Academy Award, an Emmy, a Grammy, and a total of 18 Tony Awards. He is best known for his work on films like "No Country for Old Men" and Broadway shows including "Doubt," "Book of Mormon," "Hello, Dolly!," and "A Raisin in the Sun."

10. Whoppi Goldberg

Whoppi Goldberg made history as the first Black woman to achieve EGOT status in 2002. She won an Emmy and a Tony for her outstanding contributions. Goldberg received the Emmy for "Beyond Tara: The Extraordinary Life of Hattie McDaniel," and the Tony for producing the award-winning musical "Thoroughly Modern Millie." 

In 2014, Goldberg won her second Emmy for her work on "The View." She also won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1991 for her role in "Ghost," and a Grammy for Best Comedy Album in 1986 for "Whoopi Goldberg: Original Broadway Show Recording."

9. Mike Nichols 

Mike Nichols, a renowned filmmaker and producer, achieved the prestigious EGOT status by winning a total of eight Tony Awards for his Broadway shows such as "Annie" and "Monty Python's Spamalot." He also received an Oscar for directing the iconic film "The Graduate." In addition, Nichols earned four Emmys and a Grammy, solidifying his place among the elite EGOT winners.

8. Mel Brooks

Mel Brooks, a multi-talented writer, director, and comedian, joined the EGOT club after winning the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for his film "The Producers" in 1969. He completed his EGOT journey in 2001 when the stage adaptation of "The Producers" won three Tony Awards. Brooks has also been honored with three Grammys and four Emmys, showcasing his incredible versatility and talent.

7. Jonathan Tunick 

Jonathan Tunick, a renowned composer, collaborated with legendary Stephen Sondheim on beloved musicals like "A Little Night Music," "Passion," and "Into the Woods." Tunick's exceptional work on these shows earned him numerous accolades, including an EGOT. He completed his EGOT journey in 1997 when he won a Tony Award for his contributions to the Broadway production of "Titanic."

6. Marvin Hamlisch 

Marvin Hamlisch, a highly acclaimed composer known for his collaborations with Barbara Streisand, achieved EGOT status through his remarkable achievements. He won three Oscars for his work on the 1973 film "The Way We Were," which starred Streisand and Robert Redford. Notably, Streisand performed the film's titular song. Hamlisch also received four Grammy Awards and four Emmys. He completed his EGOT journey by winning the Tony Award for Best Original Score in 1976 for the iconic musical "A Chorus Line."

5. Audrey Hepburn

Audrey Hepburn won the Oscar for best actress in 1953 for her outstanding performance in "Roman Holiday." Throughout her illustrious film career, she received a total of four Oscar nominations. In addition to her Oscar win, Hepburn also earned a Tony, an Emmy, and a Grammy. Her EGOT status was solidified in 1994 when she won the Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album for Children for "Audrey Hepburn's Enchanted Tales."

4. John Gielgud

John Gielgud, a renowned actor and director, is best known for his exceptional performances in numerous plays by William Shakespeare. He received critical acclaim for his work on stage and was awarded three Tony Awards. In 1979, Gielgud won a Grammy for Best Spoken Word, Documentary, or Drama Recording for "Ages of Man – Recordings from Shakespeare." In 1982, he achieved an Oscar win for Best Supporting Actor in the film "Arthur." Gielgud completed his EGOT journey in 1991 when he earned the lead actor Emmy for the miniseries "Summer's Lease."

3. Rita Moreno

Rita Moreno, a highly accomplished actress, received the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role as Anita in the 1961 film adaptation of "West Side Story." Moreno's talent extended beyond the silver screen, as she also left her mark on the stage and television. She won a Tony Award and two Emmys for her exceptional performances. In addition, Moreno earned two Grammy Awards for her outstanding contributions to the entertainment industry. She holds the distinction of being the first and only Latina woman to achieve an EGOT status. Moreno's EGOT journey began in 1977 when she won an Emmy for her role on "The Muppet Show."

2. Helen Hayes

Helen Hayes, a renowned actress, achieved the prestigious EGOT status in 1977. She won her first Oscar in 1932 for her outstanding performance in "The Sin of Madelon Claudet." Throughout her career, she also received an Emmy and two Tonys. Her EGOT journey was completed when she won the best spoken word album Grammy for "Great American Documents."

1. Richard Rodgers

In 1962, Richard Rodgers became the first person to win all four major entertainment awards, earning him the EGOT status. He accomplished this feat by winning an Emmy for "Winston Churchill: The Valiant Years." Additionally, he won two Tonys and a Grammy for the musical "No Strings." Richard Rodgers is also well-known for his work on shows and movies like "The Sound of Music" and "State Fair," for which he won the best song Oscar in 1945 for "It Might as Well Be Spring."
