Kamar de los Reyes, a talented actor known for his work in television, movies, and video games, has sadly passed away at the age of 56. The news was announced by his family in Los Angeles.

According to a statement from Lisa Goldberg, a publicist for de los Reyes' wife, actress Sherri Saum, he passed away on Sunday after a brief battle with cancer.

One of de los Reyes' most notable roles was on the soap opera "One Life to Live," where he portrayed Antonio Vega, a former gang member who transformed his life and became a lawyer and later a cop. He starred alongside his wife, Sherri Saum, in the show.

Additionally, de los Reyes lent his voice to the popular video game "Call of Duty: Black Ops II," where he played the villainous character Raul Menendez.

His talent extended to the small screen, as he appeared in various television shows such as Fox's "Sleepy Hollow," ABC's "The Rookie," and CW's "All American."

The family statement revealed that at the time of his passing, de los Reyes was filming for the show "All American." He had also recently filmed roles for Marvel's upcoming "Daredevil" series and Hulu's yet-to-be-released "Washington Black," starring Sterling K. Brown.

De los Reyes, originally from Puerto Rico but raised in Las Vegas, discovered his passion for acting when he moved to Los Angeles in the late 1980s. Some of his early roles included playing Pedro Quinn in the off-Broadway play "Blade to the Heat" in 1994 and Ferdinand in "The Tempest" for Shakespeare in the Park, directed by George C. Wolfe.

On the big screen, de los Reyes appeared in notable films such as Oliver Stone's "Nixon," where he portrayed Watergate burglar Eugenio Martinez, "Salt" alongside Angelina Jolie as a secret service agent, and "The Cell" with Jennifer Lopez.

"Although de los Reyes resided in Los Angeles, his heart always remained in Puerto Rico," stated the family, noting his active involvement in the recovery efforts following Hurricane Maria in 2017.

The actor is survived by his wife Saum and their three sons: Caylen, 26, and twins Michael and John, aged 9.
