Tragic Accident Claims Lives of Two Children
Two boys, both ten years old, tragically lost their lives in a car accident. The driver of the vehicle, who was their father, was also involved in the incident. During a press conference, Waukesha County Sheriff Eric Severson expressed his sadness over the situation. Sheriff Severson also stated that the driver, whose identity has not been disclosed, may face additional charges, including fleeing and eluding causing death, as well as reckless driving causing death, as determined by the state police.
"The fact that two children lost their lives this morning as a result of really bad decision making is really sad to all of us," said Sheriff Severson. "This didn't need to happen. We struggle in our communities to make sure the roads are safe, that we're enforcing the law. We want to do everything we can to not have these situations take place."
The crash is now being investigated by the Wisconsin State Patrol. Severson said that the driver, who was not identified by authorities, may face additional charges, brought by the state police, including counts of fleeing and eluding causing death and counts of reckless driving causing death.

According to officials, Wisconsin state statute requires an independent law enforcement team to investigate any incident resulting in the death of an individual due to the actions or omissions of a law enforcement officer.
"We have no evidence to believe laws were violated. ... It looks like they did their job right," stated Sheriff Severson. He also mentioned that the deputy who attempted to stop the vehicle involved in the incident is still on duty.
