The Denver Zoo was faced with a paternity mystery when a baby orangutan named Siska was born. Determined to find the answer, the zoo turned to the renowned paternity test expert, Maury Povich.
Povich, a father of three himself, is famous for hosting a tabloid talk show where he revealed paternity test results to surprised guests. The show always ended with Povich declaring "you are not the father" or "you are the father."
Siska, who is four months old, had two potential fathers - 30-year-old Berani and 16-year-old Jaya, leaving the zoo staff unsure of who the biological father was, as reported on X.
On Monday, the Denver Zoo finally announced that the paternity debate had been settled. "The DNA results are in, and we're excited to reveal Siska's father," the zoo posted on X. "Stay tuned for a special announcement tomorrow from a very special guest."
The special guest turned out to be Maury Povich himself, who recorded a video of himself dressed in a tuxedo while opening the results. "Fresh off receiving the Daytime Emmys Lifetime Achievement Honor, Maury Povich is here to help us announce the paternity results for Siska, our four-month-old Sumatran orangutan," the zoo wrote on X on Tuesday.

Just like on his famous TV show, Maury Povich brought the drama to a zoo in Florida when he revealed the results of a paternity test for an orangutan named Siska. Povich opened a manilla envelope and declared, "When it comes to the orangutan – 4-month-old Siska – Bernai, You ARE the father." The zoo staff cheered and the moment was even captured in a split-screen photo of Berani and Jaya, just like on the show.
Povich, known for his iconic line "You are the father," spoke about his legacy of delivering paternity test results at the Daytime Emmys red carpet. He was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the ceremony and reflected on the impact of his catchphrase. He mentioned that people often ask him to say it when they recognize him on the street.
