A helicopter belonging to a local news station crashed in Hammonton, New Jersey. The wreckage was discovered by state police in the Wharton State Forest, located off Mullica River Road, shortly after midnight.
The helicopter was contracted through U.S. Helicopters and operated for 6ABC WPVI. Tragically, the pilot and photographer, who were contracted with U.S. Helicopters and part of the 6ABC family, lost their lives in the crash. The incident occurred after 8 p.m. while the crew was returning from an assignment in Galloway Township.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have been notified and will be conducting an investigation into the crash. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the journalists and staff at 6ABC during this difficult time.
