Capitol Police Investigating Alleged Incident in Senate Hearing Room
Washington
"It's a breach of trust," a spokesperson said. "It's a tragic situation, and it's presented a lot of anger and frustration. We are concerned about our staff and the way that they feel about this."
Capitol Police said Saturday they were aware of the incident and "looking into" it.
The Daily Caller published parts of the video on Friday that allegedly shows two men engaging in inappropriate behavior in a Senate hearing room. CBS News has not independently obtained the video or confirmed the identity of the individuals involved.
In a statement on their LinkedIn account, which has since been deleted, a person named Maese-Czeropski expressed that they have been facing difficulties due to being attacked for their personal choices while pursuing a political agenda.
They also mentioned that although they have made some mistakes in the past, they love their job and would never disrespect their workplace. They believe that any attempts to portray their actions differently are false and are considering legal options.
Cardin, the person's former employer, stated that they were unaware of any other disciplinary issues involving the former employee and had not spoken to them about the situation or received an apology.
"I cannot comment on other staff members, but I have not had a conversation with him," Cardin said.
