4-Month-Old Boy Survives Tornado in Tennessee

A miraculous story unfolded in Tennessee when a 4-month-old boy survived a devastating tornado that destroyed his family's mobile home in Clarksville. The tornado, which struck on Saturday, sucked up the baby boy from his bassinet and carried him away.

The baby's mother, Sydney Moore, recounted the terrifying ordeal to WSMV-TV. She described how the tornado ripped off the roof and lifted the bassinet with her son inside. Despite her boyfriend's attempt to grab the bassinet, both he and the baby were swept up into the twister.

"He was just holding on to the bassinet the whole time, and they went into circles," Moore said. "And then they got thrown."

Meanwhile, in another room, Moore made a split-second decision to protect their other son, who is 1 year old. As the wind howled and the walls collapsed, she jumped on top of him, shielding him from harm.

Tragically, Moore and the 1-year-old were crushed under the trailer. However, she managed to push them out from under the wreckage. In the midst of the chaos, they searched for their younger son for 10 agonizing minutes.

Finally, they found him lying in a fallen tree, soaked by the pouring rain. Miraculously, the 4-month-old boy had survived the harrowing experience.

"I was certain that he was deceased and we wouldn't be able to locate him," Moore expressed. "However, he is here, and that is thanks to a higher power."

All of the family members survived with minor injuries, but their house and possessions were completely destroyed. Moore's sister has launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist them in their recovery. As of Friday morning, the campaign had raised over $34,000.

Among the victims of the powerful tornadoes that produced a series of storms on Saturday was 10-year-old Arlan Garrick Coty. Arlan, who was in the fourth grade, did not manage to escape from his home, which was directly in the path of the storm, according to a Facebook post by his mother, Katherine Burnham.

The Clarksville Police Department has identified the other victims as 59-year-old Donna Allen from Florida and 34-year-old Stephen Kwaah Hayes from Clarksville.

The remaining three victims were killed when the storm struck a mobile home community in Madison, according to the Nashville Police. They have been identified as 37-year-old Joseph Dalton, 31-year-old Floridema Gabriel Perez, and her 2-year-old son, Anthony Elmer Mendez.
