Rome — Elon Musk to Attend Conservative Political Festival in Rome

Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, will be attending a conservative political festival in Rome on Saturday organized by Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and her far-right party, the Brothers of Italy. The festival, named Atreju, will also be joined by British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Spanish far-right Vox party leader Santiago Abascal, and Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama.

Musk's visit to Rome in June, where he met with Meloni, was focused on discussions about the dangers of artificial intelligence and strategies to address Italy's declining population due to its low birth rates.

Sunak and Meloni, who share political alliances, have made immigration a central issue in their political agendas. They have jointly written an editorial advocating for stricter measures against illegal immigration. Sunak's government has also been attempting to gain approval from the U.K. courts for a controversial plan that involves flying migrants and asylum seekers who arrive in Britain without permission to Rwanda for processing.

During a meeting in London in April, Chancellor Rishi Sunak and Italian politician Giorgia Meloni discussed their shared values. Meloni, who leads Italy's most right-wing government since World War II, has proposed sending some migrants to Albania for processing. The Atreju festival, organized by Meloni since 1998, aims to celebrate Italy's conservative youth. The festival will feature political speeches, a Christmas village, ice rink, and concerts. Previous guests include Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Steve Bannon, a former advisor to Donald Trump. Elon Musk and Rishi Sunak are scheduled to give speeches at the festival.
