Andre Braugher, Emmy-Winning Actor, Dies at 61

Andre Braugher, the talented actor known for his roles in popular television series such as "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," "Men of a Certain Age," and "Homicide: Life on the Street," has passed away at the age of 61. His representative, Jennifer Allen, confirmed the news of his death, revealing that he had been battling a brief illness.

Braugher made his film debut in 1989's "Glory" and gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Det. Frank Pembleton in the hit series "Homicide: Life on the Street" in 1993. He received critical acclaim for his performance and was nominated for the best lead actor Emmy award in 1996 and 1998, winning the prestigious award in 1998.

After leaving the show in 1998, Braugher reprised his role as Pembleton in the made-for-TV movie "Homicide: The Movie" in 2000. He also made a guest appearance as the character in a 1996 episode of "Law & Order."

In 2006, Braugher won his second Emmy for his role as Nick Atwater in the FX miniseries "Thief." He then went on to star in the critically acclaimed TNT series "Men of a Certain Age," earning two more Emmy nominations in the best supporting actor category.

Braugher's personal life also saw success. In 1991, he married Ami Brabson, whom he met on the set of "Homicide: Life on the Street." Brabson had a recurring role as Det. Pembleton's wife on the show. The couple has three children together.
